An Illuminated Path to Winter

illuminated path in the woods

An illuminated path in the woods.

It’s autumn, but with a hint of what’s to come in the air. There’s a chill, a dampness and darkness to mornings and evenings.

Here in Scotland, our clocks just went back an hour. A seasonal change. A portent of winter.

But for just now, there’s still lots of blue and gold beauty to behold in the woods.

I’ll crunch through those leaves for as long as I can!

Sisters at the Edge of the World

Romans + Celts = some rather complicated romance!

Set in 1st century Scotland, the novel features a neurodivergent main character, chosen sisters, fierce warriors and the battle of Mons Graupius between the Romans and the Caledonian tribes.

  1. Sigh. I am homesick for so many places in Scotland I have yet to visit. Fernweh, the Germans call it. Thank you for your wonderful books, I’m half-way through “Sisters at the Edge of the World” and am set to buy copies for some of my pagan sisters! (I’ve already read your two earlier books, and loved them as well.) May the sun slant golden on your path, and the winter darkness light your soul!

  2. Having finished reading “Sisters at the Edge of the World” I feel I know the clouds and the rocks of the beautiful pictures in this blog as living breathing characters. My thoughts about this story: The author begins creating a world in an ancient time and a forever place with the beautifully written appeals to all the senses. But just as the reader no longer feels a stranger to this sensuous world for savoring, the fast action of this history plunges into a breathless pace pounding the story forward. I really liked both of the books before this, but I think this is the best by far. What a beautiful gift you give us, Allish. Stay well.
