The loch seemed to look explosive yesterday when I walked down to its banks.
I do like the pink and blue colours of January. It’s so mild, too. Not a hint of frost or ice left.

I’ve gotten some book money over the holidays, and I very much want to buy at least one of your books. All your historical novels are very tantalizing to me; all seem to deal with some dark topics and I wish to avoid too much darkness just now, but your books seem to offer hope as well. Which one might you recommend I start with?
Also — I’d like to order your book through my local independent book shop if that’s possible. Is there any disadvantage to you if I do so, rather than through Amazon?

All my books go into the dark but, hopefully, they lift you back out too. Mermaid would be the darkest, with the witchcraft accusations. I think Fireflies is the least dark. Independent bookshops can get them in the UK, but I think it’s trickier in other countries. Amazon is probably the easiest and quickest, to be honest. I hope you enjoy the book, anyway 🙂

Another question if I might ask: how is your first name pronounced? I suspect I’m doing it wrong in my mind (being from the US), and I don’t like mangling people’s names, even mentally.
It’s pronounced much like it looks 🙂 Ail as in ale, and then ish to rhyme with dish. It’s the Gaelic form of Alice.

I’m happy to say that my local indie bookshop was able to order Fireflies and Chocolate; it may just take a little longer than average. But I’m happy to wait for it.
