A castle rooftop from the series, A Dancer’s Journey:
“The gable of the great hall rose high to the front, a huge chimney boasted diminutive battlements, and other lower layers of pink castle sprawled out haphazardly in front of me. There were three small turrets, upended cones that had been meticulously finished round and round with ever smaller and smaller lichen dotted tiles. Tiny mismatched windows blinked in the sun: circles, squares and one narrow bent rectangle. Sections of roof ended randomly, some with mossy little steps to nowhere; one jutting brick triangle had been shaped to fit the side of a sloping turret.”
Excerpt from TENDU by Ailish Sinclair
And that really is all today. Because: busy editing. Been sucked in to a manuscript and am finding it hard to leave.

The Performance: sometimes going home for Christmas is just one huge performance…
When Ariel returns home from dance college, her mother expects her to perform the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy in a pink, sequined tutu in front of many, many party guests. There’s not only wee on rooftops tho
You must visit some interesting castles 😀
Yes I must. A good plan!
I’d hate to be the roofer on that building! As for your being “sucked into your manuscript,” you sound as though you’re following in the footsteps of another Scottish (by ancestry) writer, Jesse Stuart, whose wife said that when he once got started into writing a story kept at it until he’d finished!
Yes, those stories don’t let go!
Bravo! (whistle, whistle, clap, clap!) Love the description…and…I guess, in my heart? “I hope this means the pain has receded enough to not distract from her ‘lost in the zone of wonderful!’ 😀 I so felt within, your healing journey when you posted the tale of blue mind and pink rocks – so I’m a hoping it’s manifested in physical form!! <3
Thank you 🙂 The pain is so much less, I can fully immerse myself in the story now 🙂
Awesome & Fantabulous – if I’m limited by ‘mere words’ to try and express my joy over your ‘healing news’ – 😀
The photo breathtaking; the words put to it made it a full-throated art piece. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to reading more.
Thank you so much 🙂
I googled Castle Fraser out of curiosity, quite impressive. Did you take the photo from the large tower? A great angle!
And I saw an interesting name on the map “Port Elphinstone”.
I took the photo from the top of the round tower with the balustrade. Port Elphinstone is a nice place 🙂
That was the tower I meant, quite a climb! There must be or must have been an elfin stone perhaps?
There may well have been. I don’t know about it.
The founder of Aberdeen University was Bishop William Elphinstone. It had never occurred to me before to wonder what his name meant!
It’s rather a wonderful name.
Thank you for the information, how interesting!
I just read up on the bishop, a very interesting person. So Aberdeen University is a very old one, from 1494, I never knew. One learns many interesting things on the Internet.
You write so poetically. You make me want to close my eyes and just soak in the whole image. Nice!
Glad you like 🙂
Beautifully written words describing the photograph. All the best with your new book.
Thank you 🙂
Welll said.
Right out of a fairy tale.
Nice castle. And I think it’s good if you get absorbed into a story. It means you are really in the zone.
The picture is excellent. That is an awesome shot. Your writing is terrific. I love your descriptions of the roof top and your word usage. It’s so great to be able to see and read things from around the world as if a person is just nearby sharing.
Thank you 🙂 I love that about blogs too, the authenticity and connected-ness to other parts of the world.
your beautiful writing brought the castle to life so vividly that I didn’t need to see the picture.
Thank you 🙂
They sure had a thing for cone shaped roofs back in the day 🙂
They did. It must have been extremely intricate work to build such things.
